The old man is about 5\" and the old lady is a little shorter. They are on a wood base marked Made in France.Note the picture that shows the paper skirt of the old lady with French writing.The research says that Bernard would use the white part of the bread mixed with his salvia to form forms and then put some type of putty mixture on the top. He would sculpture the head and hands. There are very few of these known to exist here in the United State. The one hand has come off so it will need to be glued back on. I have seen a pair of these for sale for over $1,000. There are always holes and falling apart when you see these.
