Up for sale is a Wonderful Early Herschede Claw Foot 8 Tube/Tubular Grandfather/Hall Clock. Serial Number: 8783. Circa 1900-10s. The clock\'s dimensions are approximately; H- 93\", W- 245\" & D- 15\".

Pattern No. 22

The Case: The mahogany case is in excellent physical condition. There is one pressure crack on the left side of the case [left side when facing the clock]. This pressure crack is on the interior panel and by no istracts from the clock\'s overall beauty.cracks that I can see. The original finish is clean for a 100 year old clock and has a nice establish patina to the original finish. This case has not been refinished and is exactly what a collector wants, nothing altered or changed that I can see. Also, on the door of the clock, there is a small little plaque that reads, \"The Herschede Hall Clock Co., Christopher Columbus, First Prize Winner. Panama Exhibit, 1915\".

The Dial/Face: The silver and gold plated dial is in good physical condition and has a wonderful patina. The lunar calendar is beautifully painted with no chips or missing paint that I can see. The hour, minute and second hand are original and fit tightly to the arbors. There are a few smudges where someone once tried to clean the silver and some minor wear of the plating of the lunar dial.

The Mechanism: The Herschede 8 day weight driven 1/4 hour chiming mechanism has been running flawlessly for me for the last week without any issue.. It has a strong ticking sound and keeps very accurate time. The clock chimes, Westminster, Canterbury and Whittington chimes beautifully. The sound of the 1/4 hour chime and hourly strike are wonderful. The sound resonates for a nice long time.

The Pendulum: The Herschede pendulum is original/complete and looks great.

The Weights: The 3 brass weights are original and have a wonderful patina and look fantastic. There are a few minor scratches to the set, but again, I feel this does not distract from the beauty of the clock.

The Tubes: The 8 tubes are original, in excellent physical condition and have a great patina.. The sound resonates beautifully after chiming each 1/4 hour and striking the hour [the clock strikes the hour with 4 tubes].

The Glass: The clock has the original 4 panes of glass, The front door is beveled.. The glass that covers the dial/face and front door has a nice established \"wave\" to it as well.

The Dust Cover: The dust cover on the back of the clock has worn away and a new dust cover should be installed.

The Keys: The door lock key and winding key are original to the clock. The winding key has the Herschede logo/crown on it.

Antique collectors and/or clock enthusiasts will love this original condition clock that is in great working order.
