I havefor sale this early medicine bottle from Lockport NY. This bottle is green oraqua in color and is simply marked GARGLING OIL LOCKPORT NY on the front. Thebody of the bottle is rectangle in shape measuring 1 5/8 inches wide, 1 inchthick and 5 ½ inches tall to the top of the bottle. The glass shows all thesigns of an early molded bottle. You are able to see bubbles and wavy marks inthe glass. The glass also exhibits a colored rainbow effect in spots. I believethis to be a reaction to the contents of the bottle or from it being in theground at one point. To me it has a great effect and is rather pleasing to lookat. The bottle has just 2 seams thatonly go about half way up the neck and stop. The seams are at the opposite cornersfrom each other and divide the bottle diagonally in half. The 2 halves are thenmade up of a front/back panel plus one complete side panel. The bottom wasprobably fused on afterwards or was part of the front or back mold. The overallcondition of the bottle is as near perfect as you could get. I find no chips nor cracks anywhere on thebottle. The visible lines in the glass I truly believe to be from when thebottle was made and not cracks. This is a great Western New York piece that hasa lot of history and character to it and would make a great addition to anycollection.
