A very nice example of an early 1700s hand blown black glass ale bottle which is crudely made and has a hand tooled lip. The base is uneven and the neck is not symmetric, which gives the bottle a noticeable tilt to one side. The bottle has a deep pontil scar, no chips and no cracks, but plenty of air bubbles in the glass. The bottle measures 10.125 inches tall and 3.625 inches in diameter at the widest point. This bottle was found in an estate sale in Beaufort, SC.
