Complete and very early advertising display for Dr. Robinson’s Balm of Tulips, Foxcroft, Maine. Double-sided display box is complete with its twelve (12) original bottles (six on each side), graphic double-sided cardboard marquee sign, outer cardboard sleeve, three large size color trade cards and an instruction sheet for the druggist on how to set up the box and bottles for display. All twelve bottles are in very good condition with full labels and original foil seal over the corked top. Each bottle is held in place by a blue ribbon that is attached to the display box. Each label states that Balm of Tulips is “A specific for Cold Sores -- Apply frequently with the finger as soon as the coming Cold Sore is felt; and continue and all soreness will be prevented.” The cardboard marquee is two-sided (same graphics each side) with a finely detailed portrait of Dr. Robinson. At the bottom of the marquee it reads “Show Card – Please place in the crevice in the top of the box. There are also three original advertising trade cards printed on cardboard showing an adorable Victorian girl in her fur hat and winter coat in a snowstorm. The back of each card tells the story of how a “Yankee Dentist” came up with the formula for Balm of Tulips and how it is the only known cure for cold sores. The trade cards and marquee are in very good condition. The display box with sleeve measures 7.5” x 3.25” x 2” and each bottle is 3” tall. There is a label on the one end of the sleeve which indicates that the box contains one dozen Balm of Tulips bottles.
