Early WMF Silver Repousse Tazza 13" Rare 1880s Example
Fabulous, very early WMF silverplated tazza, circa 1880s. This piece predates the company's more typical Art Nouveau designs, though you can see (especially on the stem) some hints of Nouveau. The "as" mark indicates the type of finish. Even the mark is a bit uncommon, as the majority (though not all) of WMF's early marks were in a cartouche. You are not likely to find many earlier pieces of WMF. And this piece is in outstanding condition, with only some typical finish wear. Please check my other sales for more fine estate items. Condition: Outstanding detail. Very tight. Some silver wear on high spots.
