East Java, Indonesia -dating from the second half of the 19th century.
Cast using the \'lost wax\' process, a large copper alloy bowl of traditional form and design.
The broad form rests on an integral flaring circular foot - a raised decorative band encircles the mid-point. The surfaces are finished with chiseled, punched and chased decoration - the decoration of complex scrolling floral form, incorporating Wayang figures and animals.
Images 10 & 11, detail the base, showing the maker\'s decorativesignature mark incorporated at the casting boss.
Internally, the bowl is finished with concentric bands of ring turning.
This good example shows signs of genuine age and usage.Overall diameter - 9 7/8\" (251mm), height - 4 5/8\" (117mm).
Weight - 1,972 grams.

Condition - Very Good. A slight casting flaw at the rim. no repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
