Edward H. Bohlin Made ~ Vintage Sterling Silver Hatband:
I am putting up for salethis very rare Edward H. Bohlin MadeVintage Sterling Silver Hatband that was made between the 1940s thru the early 1960s.( I do not know the exact year it was made.) This hat band could not be in better shape for it age. There is no damage at all to any of the Silver work as well as the Leather work. It has been very well taken care of. Any collector of Edward E. Bohlin's work will want to add this piece to thier collection. All of his Historic Western work is highly sought after. There was a segment on the Antique Roadshow about his Silver belt bucklesrecently. And they even called Mr.Bohlin the best Saddelry and western tack maker of his time. The list of starswho collected his creations is amazing. I have never polished the Silver as I like the Patena it gets in time. BUT if it was polishedby a good jeweler I am sure it would be a sight to behold on a good Cowboy/Cowgirl hat. This piece was made when the company wascreating masterpieces and were located in Burbank Califoria ~ You can see that stamp on the leather band. The Silver Pieces are marked. "Bohlin Made Sterling" I have posted as many good pictures as was allowed. If you would like a different view just ask and I willget that sent to you.
The Hatband measure 26 inches in Lenth and the leather is one half inches wide.
There are Eleven Conchos and three Pieces that Make up the Belt Buckle ~ ALL Sterling Silver made and engraved by hand.
Note to buyers ~~ I am starting the offerding at $176.00 as that really is the very least I would ever part with this Collectable Boklin Made Piece.
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING ~~
Below is a short history of the Man and his Company
Edward H Bohlin Company
LKL: Hollywood, CA
Born in Sweden in 1895, Edward Bohlin ran away from home at age 15, working his way to America on a huge four-mast schooner with dreams of Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West in his head. Ed worked cattle drives around Montana before opening his first saddle shop in Cody, Wyoming where he did rope tricks in front of his shop to draw business.
He met Tom Mix while performing at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood and Mix convinced Ed to stay and produce silver and leather items in the Los Angeles area. From his humble beginnings to his fame in Hollywood for high-end pieces, Ed crafted more than 12,000 Bohlin saddles including many grand silver outfits of Tournament of Roses Parade fame. He also dressed many silver screen heroes and horses with his grand style of buckles, spurs and gun belts. His company was without equal among western style silversmiths building a reputation on flawless workmanship. The Edward H Bohlin company, which operated from the early 1920s through the 1980s (under Ed's watchful eye but continues to operate under other ownership), reached its apex in the 1930s when the Hollywood cowboys reigned supreme. Bohlin was a stickler for details and employed the finest silver and leather workers of his era to satisfy discriminating clients including Mae West, Hopalong Cassidy, Monte Hale, Lyndon Johnson and Ronald Reagan. On Jul-01-13 at 04:54:19 PDT, seller added the following information:
