The coin shown is a silver ten para from the reign of Sultan Mahmud II. It was struck at the Cairo Mint. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature, of the sultan. The denomination \'10\' appears below the toughra, above the Arabic letter \'p\' for para. The reverse carries the ascension date and the textminted in Misr(Misr is Arabic forEgypt). The date is written as AH 1223 year 30, which translates to about 1836 AD.

The catalog description reads \"Mahmud II 10 Para 1223AH Year 30, choice toned AU, rare type and grade. From the Lake Pearl Middle Eastern Collection.\"18
