Those not sold were destroyed.
Making it very difficult to assemble a complete set of these exquisite minisheets unless you were actually at the Expo. Most of those sold were to people seeking an example with all stamps issued which explains Day 1 being a complete sell out. A lot of people were unaware of the different daily styles.
There was a different design sheet issued each day with only days 7 and 8 being similar to Day1. Days 2,3,4,5&6 were each different types, Day 4being the embossed style and Day 5 being the fully imperforate Peel and Stick, which is the first time this has been done asall previous imperforate mini sheets were gummed.
Not all days were completely sold out. Only Day1 and Day5 are recorded as sold out. Australia Post policy was that those not sold were destroyed.
Australia Post staff were mixing up the numbers so that there was no guarantee of which number you were supplied with, additionally they were limiting the number of sheetssold to each customer.
