Not a reproduction this is an original emerson tube type radio from 1950 fully restored. One of the last gorgeous novelty radios from Emerson! I have only seen this model a few times in the past here on and most are basket cases to say the least. Doors dont line up,bindings torn,filthy coverings,back broke or missing,i can go on and on..NOT THIS ONE!! This radio has been Detailed to its original condition. The cabinet has been hand restored by the World renound Harcourt Bindery co.inc. Boston Ma. by the finest bindery craftsmen in the country.No marring,or scratching anywhere on the cabinet. Therestoration is the exact reproduction of the original exterior and hours were spent on this project with no expense spared!! Just look at the work in the photo layout,and i think you will agree it is second to none! The outer bindings are pefrect,the doors close with no droop and line up pefectly.The tunning dial lettering is excellent.The grill work is perfect. Enough said!! The radio chassis is an emerson All american 5 tube line up and the chassis and inside cabinet are clean.All internal mechanical components are checked and are original! Remaining electrical components replaced as needed. The power cord exhibits little age related stiffness but safe for use. Of course all tubes checked and tested on a heath tester for emissions and shorts.The audio isa little restricted,small 3" speaker Dont expect hi fi audio!However is very selective with no hum or static noted. This radio features a gorgeous front facade of eight "History of Nations" books sitting on a shelf you would never think it was a radio!!!! What a convesation piece this would make in your home or office.The AM works on its internal loop system.These Novelty radios were very hip in the 50s,However very few have survived.This isJust an outstanding retro age radio from stem to stern..Don't miss out on this obscure model Emerson Book shelf radio,and if you are an avid mid century novelty or retro collector and value total restored Original collectable items,this one is for you!
