We are quite pleased to offer this important George I sterling silver tankard.

From one of the most skilled silversmiths of the period Edward Vincent in 1725.

Apprenticed under Robert Cooper in 1699. Free 1712. Grimwade states Vincent\'s work compares favorable to Paul De Lamerie (page 690).

Examples in all the most important museum collections.

Classic tapering cylindrical.

Center shell and vine medallion. Flanked by raised shell and floral sprays all set atop satin finish. Step dome cover topped with raised thistle and bud finial, hallmarked.

Foliate volute thumb piece of the period.

Well cast urn and streaming bead strap work topped S-scroll handle, with shield at lower end.

Extensively hallmarked.

This important Edward Vincent tankard is 7 3/4 inches tall and weighs 27 1/2 standard ounces.

Excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina. Stands perfectly firm on table or display shelf. The chased shell and floral retains its original detail. Interior clean.
