Vol. 1, Maurice Darantiere, Dijon, France; Vol. 2, Pascal Covici, Chicago, 1927, Vol. 3, Pascal Covici, Chicago, 1928; Vol. 4, Covici Fried, NY, 1928. All four installments of Ezra Pound\'s contribution to the \"little magazine\" movement. Authors include: Ernest Hemingway, E.P. himself, William Carlos Williams, Louis Zukofsky, Richard Aldington and others (including, surprisingly, Joe Gould of Joseph Mitchell\'s stories of New York). Vol. 1 has Pound\'s hand-penciled correction to Hemingway\'s poem, which was done by himin most of the issue\'s 500 copy run.

Condition issues: First, vols 2-4: all these can be picked up and read normally.

Vol. 2 - (the only one with an orange cover, the others are red) There is a closed tear extending from the upper left spine corner extending for an inch down the hinge. The spine is still good and thetext completely clean.

Vol. 3 - There is a half-inch tear to the top of the spine with a little loss. Clean insideand the spine is good.

Vol. 4 - Spine is good, clean inside except for some mild soiling on flyleaf page. There is a little loss to the lower back cover edge near the bottom.

Vol. 1 - The first issue of Exile was poorly printed and almost all of them that were actually read disintegrated. Pound switched printers for the rest of the issues. This copy has a half inch loss to the top of the spine. The front cover is barely attached to the spine. The back cover and last page of the text have separated from the spine, but are intact and otherwise undamaged. That said, nothing is really missing from the item. All the elements are present here, I believe, for a successful and inexpensive restoration.
