This sale is for an Ex Libris Bookplate for the University of California Andrew Smith Hallidie Regent 1868-1901. This bookplate was designed by A.R. Whelan in 1903. Andrew Smith Hallidie (1836-1900) was the invertor of the cable car and is considered the father of the San Francisco Cable Car System.

This bookplate is part of an extensive collection of Ex Libris bookplates by Sidney Smith and many others dating from the mid to late 19th century through the 1920\'s that I will be putting up for sale. If you are interested in Ex Libris bookplates from that era, keep your eye out for them.

The Bookplate is in Excellent condition. The bookplate is mounted on black construction paper 5x7 inches in size.see scan.
