The wood frame is aheavy quality dense wood, most likely fruitwood or maple or ash or walnut, and finishedin a dark golden brown walnut tone with split turned balusters and squarecorner blocks and florette star adornments. Perfect vintage condition with noscratches or stains or nicks. The mirror itself has a couple of barely visiblescratches, shown in closeup photo.

The hanging wire is readyto hang, currently vertical, but this mirror can also be used horizontally witha change of the image in the interchangeable 8 x 6 inch section of the piece,and adding a wire holder. Popular in French design, the separated 2-part mirrorallows one to change out the image you display on the top section; you can remove the backsection and the little brads that hold the backing in place, remove or simplycover over and replace with the image,photo or graphic of your choice. The image shown in the horizontal photo is just a piece of paper cut out from a calendar and laid on top of the glass to illustrate how the 2-part mirror might look being used horizontally; it is not included in the sale.
