I have just been told by a 40 year collector thatwhat I have here is aBelgian copy of a BRITISH WW 2 helmet. It is a Model 1949 .
And this is what I found out online:
ABL = Armee Belge/Belgische Leger (Belgium Army in French and Netherlands, the languages spoken in Belgium)1949 = The model (First made in 1949 hence the model number)X.B. = Xavier Buisset, Vilvoorde, the manufacturer1951 = The year of production
Belgium made copy of the British Mk.II helmet, made from 1949 - 1952. ABL is Armee Belge/Belgische Leger which makes this the Army version (Based on color and the ABL stamp).Again I know very little about these helmets and I am selling for a widow who husband recently passed and he was a collector of such things.Helmet is in verynice shape, leather inside is soft and pliable. Really fine condition for its age. Please check out the actual photos of the helmet for condition. Any questions I will be happy to try and answer.
