This interesting, early quilt will surely bring a lively discussion at your next quilting club meeting. There is much argument regarding the humility block (A block set wrong, because only God can be perfect) which can also be to ward off evil, and others say it is just the quilters\' way of making it her own. Whichever group you are in, you will find this one fun to think about!
The pattern on this quilt is a churndash pattern except for the two diagonally across corners, where one block is pieced wrong, and the opposite, where there is a block pattern where there should be a plain pattern(photo).
c1880-1910
The backing is a beautiful calico, made of two panels on the back that measure 26\" and 34 3/4\" wide
It is hand quilted at 6-7 stitches per inch.
It is hand bound.
It measures 71 1/4\" x 60 3/4\"
Near mint condition. There are a couple spots ranging from pin dot to rice size, a 1 1/4\" x 1\" original fabric sticker residue spot, and a small 3/8\" long sticker residue mark as shown in the photos.
Never used or washed!
