Excellent Orvis Midge Bamboo Fly Rod 7\'6\" 2/2 3 5/8 oz. 11 ferrule 4 weight:
$850.00

My first fish on an Orvis Midge was a fat 18 inch brown that took a caddis a foot from an undercut bank and jumped into the current. My first thought was, uh oh… Either I am going to have to break off this fish or this fish is going to break this little rod. Then something amazing happened. I was wrong. The powerful butt section held onto the big fish and easily kept it under control in the strong current.
That was the moment I became enamored with the Orvis Midge. Can make delicate presentations. Check. Feels absolutely wonderful to cast. Check. Can land decent sized fish. Check.
No other fly rod has won my heart like the Midge, and I have fished hundreds of vintage bamboo fly rods. When you get the Midge into a roll cast and feel every inch of the fly line loading through its powerful, yet soft and delicate fibers, you will love it too. When you pull it out of the tube and smell that distinct Orvis smell and look at the beautiful dark cane and fine craftsmanship, you will be in the moment those of us who love old bamboo fly rods seek.
Made in 1968 by Bill Young and George Reid, this Orvis Midge is in excellent condition. This one has seen very little use through its near 50 years of existence. All sections are full length and measure 45 1/2 inches. All sections are straight. No sets, cracks de-lamination, hook digs, broken wraps, or repairs. The wraps are all in tact and the ferrule fit is excellent. The cork grip is smooth and in excellent condition. There aren\'t any dings on the reel seat. It is truly in excellent condition.
Why am I selling it? I have more than one Midge. I regularly fish another Midge (the one I never want to leave at home) but it\'s condition is nothing like this one that I am selling. I need to sell some rods so that I can buy more! Ha ha. This rod could go to a collector or someone who wants an excellent example of this taper to explore.
Message me if you have any thoughts or question. Have a great day.

I fish the Orvis Midge with 4 weight fly line. That is what I like with this vintage Orvis model. The brand of fly line I prefer is Cortland Sylk in either WF4F or DT4F, a nice supple fly line.
I think the price is a win/win, but I would consider reasonable offers. Just send me a message with your thoughts.
Please keep the questions coming. Thanks.
