Excellent Pre-WWI American M1904 Hospital Corps Knife manufactured in 1913 at the Springfield Armory . M1904 was originally designed as a large but non weapon knife to aid the Hospital Corps in the business of field hospital set up, sharpening stakes, clearing foliage, etc. The Model 1904 production at the Springfield Armory ran from 1904 to 1914 with about 40,000 serial numbered.The overall length is 17 1/4 inches. The blade is in excellent condition. The ricasso is stamped with SA flaming bomb 1913 on on side and the other side the serial number with US /32318. Its American walnut handle with contoured finger grooves, bronze handguard, butt cap and pins and comes with no play. in the handle The original leather and metal throat metal throat scabbard was made at the Rock Island Arsenal and is marked Rock Island Arsenal /1911/HEK on the back side. the scabbard has the steel swivel belt hanger and a rare metal throat. The scabbard is in excellent condition. It has a large scratch mark on the top of the back of the scabbard near the wording.As is, No return. See photos.
