What more would you expect from an era when everyday thingswere created as works-of-art? This is a most exceptional boudoir lamp from theearly 1920s. The lamp is created from the porcelain mold of a most eloquentcreature – this woman clutching her chest in a somewhat pensive fashion – isshe waiting for a lost love, is she seeing him off to battle? Who can say – butshe does it SO WELL! This doll (bust to waist half) is hand-painted meticulously- hair and facial features contrasting with her delicate alabaster skin.

She is dressed to the envy of all romantic-period women witha muted peach(ish) dress with layers upon layers of antique delicate taupecolor French lace (with a hint of gold) and this incredible coat / train thatis heavily embellished and beautifully detailed. Her ruffled sleeves fall fromher shoulders and she has a lovely lace corsage-style fixed accent at herwaist. All is accented with a run of the taupe colored lace and dainty littleroses following the length of the lace.

There is very little to share about the lamp because I haveno knowledge. There are not wires but a metal cage that protects the lamp andcreates her undergarments for the full dress. There is still a bulb, it ismarked “Bryant” and there appears to be a switch on the light fixture. Shestands approx. 13 inches tall and seven (7) inches width (widest point). She isan elegant doll and in lovely condition given her age. There is some surfacesoiling and some breaks in the intricate lace as these things tend to brittleas they age. Overall, beautiful antique doll – not sure how she will functionas a lamp.
