I have always liked items for use in an office or on a desk. I have also always liked English letter or postal boxes. This is an exceptional one in quartered quartersawn oak. Pretty cylinder shape (I have heard this shape referred to as lighthouse shape) with letter slot in the top and original \'POST\' label on the front. Inside retains an hours of collection memo from long ago. In excellent refinished condition with a smooth, even and authentic finish. According to the registry tag affixed to the piece, the date of manufacture is 1872. Measures 17.5 x 9 inches. With original working key. Would be hard to fine a nicer example.
