Description:

We are pleased to offer you this finely crafted Early American Federal Period, Hepplewhite Pembroke drop leaf table made with exceptionally well-figured Mahogany, circa 1790-1800.

This example possesses the graceful proportions, lines, and refined decoration so typical of the Federalist period. The D-shapedemi-lune leaves form an elongated topgiving the table a feeling of lightness aloft the gracefully tapered, square legs.

The mahogany is richly figured.A striking combination of ebonized and light woods are string inlaid into the table top perimeter, as well as parallel inlay bands completely around tabletop edge andapron; contoured embellishment of the drawer fronts, with vertical inlay down the legs and contrasting horizontal banding at the top and bottom of the legs.

RECENTLY ACQUIRED FROM THE ESTATE OF 2 RETIRED ANTIQUE DEALERS / COLLECTORS WHO HAD A STORE ON MELROSE AVE, LOS ANGELES BACK IN THE LATE 1960s - 1990s.

Dimensions: MEASURES ABOUT 31.75\" DEEP AND 19.25\'\' WIDE WHEN LEAVES ARE DROPPED. LEAVES MEASURE ABOUT 10.75\'\' WIDE. HEIGHT 28.5\" TALL.

...THERE ARE SCRATCHES, SCUFFS, NICKS, AND A FEW OLD SMALL BURN MARKS TO THE TOP, AS WELL AS SOME AGE OLD STAINS.

SOME SMALL LOSSES TO THE OUTER EDGE /ENDS OF THE RULE JOINTS (SEE PHOTOS).

THE TABLE TOP EDGE SHOWS SMALL NICKS, SCUFFS AND GENERAL WEAR AS WELL.

THE FINISH LOOKS TO BE ORIGINAL BUT I\'M NO EXPERT.

THE LEGS ALSO HAVE SOME WEAR, SCUFFS AND NICKS HERE AND THERE, AS EXPECTED FOR A 200+ YEAR OLD TABLE.

THE SURFACE GRUNGE WAS WIPED OFF THE TABLE SURFACE WITH DENATURED ALCOHOL. A LIGHT COAT OF LEMON OIL WAS APPLIED AND WIPED OFF.

1 APPLICATION OF PURECARNAUBA WAX WAS APPLIED THEN HAND RUBBED, TO FINISH.
