Exceptional Antique Victorian Carved Rose Brooch

This amazing antique carving is strikingly naturalistic in scale and rendering. The rose is delicately carved in an early stage of bloom with unfurling petals, a tightly closed bud below, a textural stem with thorns and serrated leaves. It appears to be made in three pieces as there are three rectangular and round inserts of the same material, two on the bottom and one on top. In excellent condition with its original C-clasp and tube hinge pin-back, this spectacular brooch measures approximately 2 7/8 x 2 1/2 x 1 5/8-inches.
