This exclusive, one-of-a-kind intricate and colorful Royal Blue Zari Brocade Pure Silk fabric is called Paithani. It\'s named after the Paithan town in Maharashtra state, India, where they are woven by hand. Made from very fine silk, it is considered as one of the richest fabric in Maharashtra. The art of weaving Paithani flourished in 200B.C., during Satvahana era. since then Paithani is coveted in India as a precious heirloom passing on from generation to generation.
Paithani weaving is a very labor intensive work. Weaving was done purely by hand and each yard took several days of hard labor and soft love. Fabric total length is approx. 6 yards and width 44 inches. Price is $49.99 per yard. This fabric can be used to make waistcoat, dress, skirt, fabric bags or any luxurious clothing items.
