Absolutely exquisite antique French Napoleon III era hand carved walnut or mahogany 12 5/8\" tall Holy water font or benitier with gold painted accenting to the ornate rococo style carvings, enamel lined gilt bronze water reservoir and champleve enamel accented figural medallion at the center! Isn\'t this one gorgeous! The extent of the carving is breathtaking, truly magnificent in every respect. The figural medallion at the center is inscribed around the sides with the left reading \"Maria\" but I can\'t quite make out the right side. It\'s signed \"Tairac\", the maker or foundry. The inside lid of the water reservoir also has stamped marks that look like \"R.B. 4808\". Very French in appearance of course, one of the more visually appealing that we\'ve found recently and impressive in size and detail. A treasure here, don\'t miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. There are a few small chips to the outer points but no warping, no splits, breaks or repairs to note. No damage to the champleve figural medallion or water font. There is a small piece of wood glued to the back of the piece, not sure why...perhaps to keep the metal pieces of the back from scratching the wall? See pictures for all measurements.

Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
