Beautiful antique Japanese Moriage biscuit jar with slag glass applied embellishments, ornamented with slip porcelain beading and scroll work in floral design, highlighted with enameling. The jar is 5 high, 5 1/4\" diameter. Unmarked. There is some beading missing from the delicate cover handle and one area on the cover where a small part of the scroll work is chipped off. There are 2 small pieces missing from the scrolled edge of the cover as pictured. There is not any damage on the surface design of the jar itself; however, as pictured, there is a hairline crack on inside of jar that is 2\" in length. (the crack does not go through the porcelain) This is a wonderful and unusual specimen of Japanese artisan craft.
