Gen. Information:Medal For the defence of Odessa has been instituted in December 22, 1942Given to : all militaries from Red army, Navy and NKVD, who took part in defence of town .Emmissions: Second emmission after 1943.Awarded: 30 000 people
Медаль \"За оборону Одессы\"Учреждена 22 декабря 1942 года.
Награждению подлежали все участники обороны Одессы - военнослужащие Красной Армии, Военно-Морского Флота и войск НКВД, а также лица из гражданского населения, принимавшие непосредственное участие в обороне (периодом обороны Одессы считается 10 августа - 16 октября 1941 года). Причем медаль вручалась защитникам города независимо от того, были ли они награждены другими орденами и медалями при обороне этого медаль изготавливалась из нержавеющей стали, однако Указом от 27 марта 1943 года материалом изготовления медали была утверждена латунь; тогда же изменился цвет орденской ленты на колодке.
Всего медалью «За оборону Одессы» было награждено около 30.000 человек.
