Featured in this sale is a magnificent and rare antique frog flower frog or flower holder made by Roseville Pottery. This frog does not have a maker\'s mark on the base but is a smaller version of the piece identified in the collector\'s guide Flower Frogs for Collectors by Bonnie Bull as having been made by Roseville. The piece has a beautiful mold detail. This flower insert is in excellent condition with a few extraneous scratches,scuffs and stray marks from gentle use.There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs; however, there is a stilt pull with glaze flakes visible on the base and a glaze skip at the base rim. This smaller frog version has five stem holes.Produced by Roseville in 1916, the Early Carnelian glaze is distinctive with its russet underglaze and yellowish-green overdrip that curdles on the piece. This example has a beautifully-mottled finish with analmost-crystalline property. This little frog is 3-1/4\" long and almost 1-3/4\" tall. It\'s otherwise very clean with lots of arts-and-crafts character. Check out all 11 photos!
