FABULOUS EARLY AAFA LARGE ANTIQUE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE WOOD TOY ROCKING HORSE
Up for sale is this wonderful large rocking horse. He\'s in great condition for his age. He has a strong, bold look to him!!
He\'s a dark wood horse (almost black) with a leather collar and reins (only a little bit of the reins are left). He has wooden ears and a horse hair tail and a wonderful wooden tongue sticking out!! It is rare to see wooden ears, face carved and I have never seen a tongue carved out! He was well played with over the years and has wear and patina you\'d expect. In order to ride him the young boy or girl would put their feet on his rockers, lean back against the two wood pieced in the back (like the back of a saddle) and hold on to the wooden peg that goes through his head. He\'s very interested and unique. We\'ve never seen another one like him!! Wow!!
He has tons of character!
As you can see in the pictures, he has some areas where the wood joints can be seen. You can see how he was put together and some cracks where the nails are (on one of the supports, on his right side, etc.) these aren\'t huge issues for an old horse but we mention them to make sure you study the pictures to see what we are talking about. Overall he shows very well and these \"issues\" add character and proof of age to him.
As you\'d expect, there are scuffs and paint loss, scrapes, scratches, nicks, dings, cracks edge wear, smudges and patina! What a great look!!
On the underneath close up shot you can see the number \"2\" very faintly. We\'re not sure if this was faded or painted over but you can see it. We don\'t know the significance of that.
He measures 38\" L (51\" L from ends of the rocker) x 9\" W at his feet (16\" W at the rocker) x 30\" high (ground to top of his head). He weighs about 24 lbs.
