This listing is for aSTUNNINGFrenchenamel jewelry casket or dresser box mounted on four ornate bronze ormolu feet. The enameling on this unusualbox is beautifully hand painted in an exquisite design with birds and foliageon a cobalt blue background.The body of thiswonderful box is totally covered in a baked-on enamel such as Limoges enamels with the interior having a gray mottled effect. The base is marked with an unidentified incisedstamp andsome hand written marks.I am sure this unusual box is of French origin fromthe late 1800's. It is definitelynothing short of breathtaking and a treasure that would be at home in any sophisticated, upscale collection.

Measures 8" square and stands 5 3/4" high.

Thisbox is in excellent condition with a tight hinge and good closure. The enamel is heavily applied and I can find only one tiny pin-head sized chip on one green leaf with the rest of theenamel being flawless.At some time the mounts have been reattached, however, this often happens with an item of this age as the adhesive material securing the enamel box into the ormolu trim often dries out and becomes loose. The box fits together correctly and has a perfect appearance..
