Fantastic Ca1914 World War I Complete Boxed Set Of Fisherview Glass Stereoviews For Sale
Very rare and wonderful, ca1914 Complete Boxed Set of Fisherview Glass World War I Stereoviews featuring fantastic, and graphic images of the War and its consequences!! This outstanding Boxed Set includes 12 Glass Stereoviews which each measure approx. 5" by 2 1/2" and each is "Copyright Fisherwiew Scientific Materials Co. / Pittsburg, PA.". Offered here is the complete, Boxed Set with the 12 Views numbered WC-1 through WC-12". The original paperboard box is present with text on the lid that reads "Fisherwiew". This is the third of 7 sets of Views produced by Fisherview.
While we have handled hundreds of the World War I stereoviews over the past 33+ years, these are the first examples of this smaller size Glass Stereoview format - manufactured by an American Company from very obviously unique and original images the likes of which we have never seen before. Each of the Views are both technically exquisite and brilliantly composed - these are NOT the usual, generic World War I Views that were published by the giants Keystone and Underwood but rather an outstanding series of Views that capture the moment in a real and hard hitting way.
Before issuing this series of Boxed Sets of World War I Glass Stereoviews, the Fisherview Scientific Materials Company specialized in Scientific Equipment selling much of their product in Europe. It has been speculated that the decidedly anti-German Stereoviews of World War I produced by the Company were actually taken by a company employee while in Europe and were an attempt to inform the American Public of the horrors being perpetrated in Europe and possibly foster sentiment for American intervention.
The 12 Stereoviews contained in the Set include views that are entirely unknown to us - unique and wonderful images highlighting the carnage of the War and the actions of the “Evil Hun”. We have included images of all 12 Views below and ask that those interested in offerding take the time to examine the outstanding quality and content of these wonderful Glass Stereoviews.
This very rare and fascinating, Boxed Set of World War I Glass Stereoviews is in very good to excellent condition overall. The 12 Views are in near mint condition - clean and crisp and beautiful with no damage or surface wear. Some of the Views still retain their original tissue guards and all are exceptionally beautiful when viewed using a Fisherview Stereoscope. The 3-D effect is deep and crisp and stunningly beautiful as the images are exceptionally well defined and processed.
The original, paperboard Box measures 5 1/4” by 3” and is intact and sound exhibiting some edge wear only. The word “Fisherview“ is printed on the lid of the Box.
A very rare and wonderful, ca1914 Complete Boxed Set of Fisherview Glass World War I Stereoviews and a fantastic addition to any Collection!!!
