This little Featherweight has been used by me (perfectfor making small doll clothes and straight stitching) for about 15 years but I never did learn to quilt.
The Bakelite pedal and cord are original as well as the case and it is very strong and functional. The four little rubber feet have just been replaced for evensitting and I regularly lubed the motor according to directions in the included manual, cleaned andoiled the moving parts with Singer products. She runs fast, smooth and quiet like amechanicalmachine should.
Several different designs were made on the cases but I found this one to be especially easy to use...the pedal slips inthe lid bracketeasily, the bobbins stay put and no tray to hassle with. Handle clasp and key are good.
It comes with a lot of accessories, a foot hemmer, adjustable hemmer, multi-slot binder, rolled edge stitcher(10) all in the original Singer Attachment box. The included lube tube is also in it\'s vintagebox but almost empty.The little green Singer book (exact copy)will teach you in pictured detail how to use each foot. And most important how to install and thread the needle (it is different than todays\'machines. OPPs...Two Singer screwdrivers also.

Other than a few cosmetic dings , nothing iswrong with her but the bulb socket needs replacing and some people are changing to LEDbulbsfor sewing... so left up to you(Easy to find online.)

After the war the striped plate was made and they moved the Serial number from the bottomto the front, under the Singer nameplate, so she is a newer model made in Elizabethtown NJ in Oct. 1953. All Featherweights have a low shank, are made of lightweight cast aluminum and have the bed that folds up and weighsunder 20 pounds in the case.

All additional information that you want can be obtained on the Singer website by using her serial numbers, even the exact monthshe was manufactured.She is a tough working old gal but also a very nice collectible and would be worth the researcheffort.
