Fine 19c Chinese Carved Openwork Hardwood Stand W Branching Prunus Flower Desig For Sale
For sale we have here a good quality interesting 19c Chinese hardwood display stand carved in full openwork style depicting flowering prunus branching with 3 raised foot areas resembling tree stumps. This stand was produced in China during the last half of the 19c of a dark hardwood to hold a censor or any three legged object and the height of all 3 areas are equal so this can easily hold a foot ring or base of the proper size as I have shown a cinnabar circular box in the last photo. The stand is well made and designed showing winding prunus branches complete with buds and flowers in various stages of bloom as well as heavier sized branches or limbs to the underside with 3 protruding stumps rising up for holding or balancing the object. The stand has great surface patina and color with good details and even the underside is finished nicely and actually could be used to display an object with the underside facing upwards. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, losses or repairs just a wonderful well preserved display stand. Sizes: Width 6" x Depth 5-1/2" x Height 2-1/4". A great display stand for that special item or would look excellent displayed on its own or with several unique stands.
