- An antique Victorian period carved shell lady cameo brooch or pin, depictingOrpheus with lyre,It is mountedin a decorative 9 carat gold mount with safety chain. The broochhas a height of 2.1 ins (53 mm) and a width of 1.7 ins (43 mm). The cameo has been well carved from finetranslucent white shell with slightnatural colouring onthe hair. It has a tube hinge and \'C\' clasp fastening with straight pin (all secure). The back of the mount has a smallapplied tab with \' 9CT \', while the safety chain which is not stamped appears also to be gold. The cameo, mount and safetychainare in very good condition, free damage i.e. chips, cracks etc... Alovely quality carved shell cameo brooch which can be worn on any occasion and would make a great addition to anyones collection, display etc.............
