Fine antique french late 18th century violin, school of Vuillaume père.

Fineantique french violin made circa late 18th century, a beauty very close to the work of Vuillaume Père in Mirecourt at the time. The violin is very elegant, the high pattern based on Stainer, with little corners which have been nicely rounded by centuries. The top is made of two parts of spruce and shows regular grain line widening to the edges. The back is made of two parts of poplar. The oil varnish, which has cracked with time, is of a brown colour. The head has been grafted a long time ago, with wood nails to secure the work. The condition is good, with rare repairs to the top, and a repair at the upper left back near the button. A fantastic french 18th century violin.

On the inside back can be found a label of \"Andre Caftagneri fait à Paris à l\'Hotel de Soiffons 1777\".

The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including new rosewood heart shaped pegs in the baroque style, a rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, the matching endpin, and a rosewood chinrest, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant new strings set.

The sound is warm, clear, with baroque colours, and will bring you the sensitivity that you expect from a french 18th century violin!

The violin comes with a certificate, describing the instrument and including a $6000 valuation.
