Description

This is a gorgeous Victorian bangle from the mid to late 19th Century.

Beautifully polished black, this, I am sure, is a combination of both WHITBY Jet and either genuine Bois Durci or similar material. To the front, and applied \'rivet\' fittings, is solid, tested SILVER, depicting a belt and buckle or GARTER motif. The garter was a ubiquitous Victoprian motif depictingdepicting strength, loyalty and protection.

Such items incorporating this design were given as a token of the closeness between the giver and wearer; a LOVE token.

This is an elasticated bangle which should stretch to accomodate wrists up to around 7 inches circumference, NOT for big hands although it could easilly be re-threaded on longer elastic to accomodate most wrists.

It measures4 cms x 1.5 cms at its widest, central panel, graduating down to 1.75 cms x .75 cms.

Other than superficial blemishes that in no way detract, it is in a splendid condition.
