Description:

A highly decorative antique mid 19th Century black lacquered papier mache plate witha very detailed hand painted panel to the centre featuring two gentlemen in Scottish highland dress returning from their hunt with two stags tied to the back of their horses. Three hunting hounds accompany them. The rim of plate is further decorated with gilt edged scrolling and foliate decoration.

A thin rope is attached to the back for hanging from a wall.

Condition:

In good antique condition, with some wear commensurate with its substantial age. There is age related cracking to the lacquer with one tiny loss(see image 7), and associated wear to the gilt painted rim. The central painting itself is intact but would benefit a clean. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
