FOR RESTORATION: Vintage Antique OLD Cotton Hand Set WOOD LILY Quilt; 73\" Square:
$57.00

This is a very old quilt, whose fabrics are probably imports from France and England that were favored by American quilters during the end of the 19th century and turn of the 20th. Of course, the quilt might have been made later in the 20th century using fabrics that had been in the hands of quilters for quite some time, but this was made before the \"feed sack era\" for sure.
The setting and quilting are by hand. The batting is 100% old fashion, \"clumpy\" cotton. The backing looks light brown from a distance, but it actually has a diminutive light brown and white checkered pattern. It is of course 100% old cotton as well.
The quilting was done in a double strand straight line fashion, clearly visible on close-up # 8.
The pattern is, we believe, a variation of Wood Lily, name published by the Kansas City Star in 1936.
The damages are, most of them, in one particular fabric that was used to make diamond swatches: check pics # 9 and 10 for a closer look. But the most visible damage on the quilt is not on the blocks, but rather on one of the several Nine Patch connecting squares, close to the center of the quilt: check pic # 11 for a closer view.
It measures approximately 73\" square; the bed is a queen, 80\" by 60\".
