The evolution of automotive keys is an interesting topic. At first, drivers and manufacturers doubted the need to have a key to secure the vehicle at all. Legend goes thatHenry Ford apparently carried around a heavy chain to secure his ride. Drivers could lock uptheir doors, their tool box, and their rumble seat. Even their spare tire. But no real ignitionkey existed until the 1920\'s. The closest you could come on an early model T was this Ignition Coil Switch, which was removable by the driver and prevented the electrical system from working. But eventually insurance companies won out, and we got real keys for the starter.

What you have for sale here is an early Model T Ignition Coil Switch key. The condition of this usedswitch key is very good for its age with some signs of light surfacecorrosion. These keys don\'t need cutting and came from the manufacturer ready for use. What a cool piece of history!
