During my last trip to the South of France, I acquired a folio, containing several works of the Fonaine family (of the father Edme and the daughter Marie Claire).
The present drawing, executed in pencil on 19th century paper, depicts three profile portraits of a young women.Authorship : the drawing is from the French School, by Edme Adolphe Fontaine.
EDME ADOLPHE FONTAINE (1814 Noisy-le -Grand - 1883 Versailles) : French painter, draftsman, watercolor artist. He was a pupil of Cogniet at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He\'s registered exposing at the Paris Salon from 1845 till 1878. His work shows landscapes, portraits, genre scene, historical and religious subjects.
Period : ca. 1850-1860.
Size : 36,4x25,5cm.
