Fabulous Antique French Barbotine Figural Flower Encrusted Majolica Jardinière
This is a lovely antique unsigned continentalfigural large footed jardinière with a colonial dressed couple and encrustedlarge flowers, roses and leaves. It looks to be a French majolica, signed only82. It has three pink and green acanthus leaf shape feet, two tree trunk shapehandles with applied flowers and leaves. The body of the jardinière is coveredwith large roses, flowers and leaves. At front a young lady with a open bookand a young man with a musical instrument are sitting. They are dressed in 18thcentury attire, they have lovely faces with intaglio eyes, serene expression.The jardinière is quite large measures 11\" handle to handle, 12\"tall. Unfortunately it has few problems, gent is missing his left hand, top ofthe instrument is broken off also. I see few small stress cracks at the basearound the feet but they look like they are from production, they are glazedover.Just informed by a nice , this is called French Barbotine majolica.
