Very special, gorgeous, vintage, ornate glass vanity perfume tray, framed in ormolu with intricate handles adorned with \"jewels\". I got this at an estate sale, about 20 years ago, run by an agent of a lawyer handling the estate of an elderly woman, so exact age Ido not know. I saw a similar one represented as Victorian just lately on and this one looks like it belongs to that time frame too but cannot say for sure, quite old definitely. The red and green cabochons and faceted blue \"jewels\", probably rhinestonessparklereflecting light. The artistic, intricatehandmadelace doily features floral with outstanding designs reaching out; no breaks, looks mint, this because it has been encased in glass on the top and bottom in the ormolu frame. Just looking at the glass there are no overt scratches but in direct light moving the piece onecan see about 8 scratches to the glass, done probably from moving a perfume bottle without picking the bottle up, pictures7 & 8trying to get scratches to show.No cloudiness to glass; it is clear. The handles are awesome with a fabulous designs and are firmly attached to the body of the piece, pictures 4 & 5 show the back of the handles. The ormolu, in the inside of the frame,has darkened in spots here and there, picture 11 & 12 design and darkened spot example, but over all the patina looks warm and wonderful for a piece this old; the outside of the frame is a different pattern, picture 10, and I noticed no darkening.The rim/edge has tiny beadingall around the circle.The tray measures about 7 3/4\" in diameter and with handles is just under 9 3/4\" across. I have not seen another like this and only a few in antique shops; a high end dealer tried to buy it from me about 12 years ago but was not ready to part with it. I need to downsize in the next two years because of anticipated move and decided to start letting some of my treasures go. This is scarce old item and displays beautifully. Thank you for looking.
