Shrewsbury, England.Description:This is a very beautiful brass and copper tazza dating to the mid-late 19th century. It is French and is a great example of the Neo-Classical style. The bowl is decorated with a relief copper design of Diana the Huntress with her bow and hound and a game bird at her feet- this is within a border of three figures wearing the Phrygian cap- the symbol of the revolution and liberty and a scrolling design of pears on scrolling stylised branches. The stem has a knop, decorated with beautiful, female mask faces and shields. The foot has more formal, pattern decoration.It is made from copper and brass- but may well have been completely silver plated to begin with; there are little traces of silver in some of the copper. The silver plate has been worn away almost completely through years of polishing. This is a high quality item.
Condition:Very good condition- slight smoothing to the copper relief within the bowl.
Measurements:16 cm in height and 18.7 cm in diameter- the foot is 9.3 cm in diameter.
