Possibly originally intended as a SALESMAN SAMPLE, we hardlyever see EXQUISITE and FRENCH FASHION doll size pieces of furnituremadelike this with such AMAZING DETAIL------an absolute RARE and MUSEUM QUALITYpiece!

The bed measures a total of approximately 20\" long, 13\"wide and is 19 3/4\" high to the top of the fabulous head board, 8 1/2\" to it\'s foot board posts, and 5\" high to the top of the side boards. The interior measurements of the bed where the mattress sits are 18 1/2\" long and 11 1/2\" wide, rendering it the PERFECTSIZE for display with 16\" to 18\" antique FRENCH FASHION dolls!

We are no expert on different woods, but think the bed is made of a TWO TONED either darkstained walnut or mahogany wood and has it\'s ORIGINAL FINISH, appearing to be beautifully HAND CARVED on it\'s head and foot board with a decorative combination of SCROLL WORK and LEAVES which were typical furniture embellishments during the Victorian era! The work boasts extremely FINE WORKMANSHIP including a carved honeycomb design on the front and carved scrolling on the head board sides andlooks just like a life size one would have been made in it\'s time, which is whywe think this could have been a late 1800\'s salesman sample orAPPRENTICE PIECE. To complete it\'s ELABORATE PRESENTATION it has it\'s original fancy TURNED FINIALS on all four posts, pine wooden slats which appear to have been replaced at some point, and WHEELED BOTTOMS for ease of movement!

The bed comes FULLY APPOINTED with a slipcase covered mattress, two matching miniature ANTIQUE PILLOWS with lovely Victorian white wear pillowcases, and a cozy thick antique miniature PINK FLORAL doll quilt! Considering the fact it is an antique miniature piece of doll furniture over 125 years old, it is in overall EXCELLENT CONDITION with a minor age wear including a small front piece of head post medallion missing which is barely discernible, and minor age stress lines to the wood; otherwise you will find this wonderful tiny bed a WORK OF ART with everyFINE DETAIL!

It would be an ABSOLUTE SHOWPIECE displayedin an antique French Fashion dolls\' BOUDOIR or BEDROOM vignette such as we have shown here, and also with our 16\" Fashion doll and 19\" Tete Jumeau for scale purposes so you can see how your ladies would look being showcased with this FABULOUS miniature furniture piece!
