An excellent example of a sterlingsilver bag shaped purse complete with chain - circa 1900. Made byrenowned Silversmith\'s Roswell Blackinton & Co. of North Attleboro MA, founded in 1862. This purse has the R. Blackinton hallmark and isstamped \"Sterling 2466\".

The front of the purse isbeautifully hand engraved. The clasp works well and the interior is emptyexcept for the original cardboard material to which the original fabric wasattached. You could easily use this toattach satin or leather to the interior.

The back of the purse is blank witha few dents and surface scratches. Thefront side is in very good condition with some surface scratches and tarnishingaround the edges. Very good all-round condition, measuring approximately 41/4\" at widest point x 2 1/4\" high; the chain drop is approximately6-1/4\", and the purse weighs approximately 80 grams.
