It is our pleasureto present, for your consideration, this Fine Pair of Walnut Victorian RenaissanceRevival Lady and Gentlemen’s Chairs with Fancy Carved Crowns (Circa: 1870).These gorgeous, high quality chairs are in excellent condition for their age andare ready for your home or office.. The Gentlemen’s chair weighs approximately45 pounds and measures 42” in total height, 26 ½” in width, 32 ½” in depth and has a seatheight of 15 ½”. The Lady’s chair weighs approximately 35 pounds and measures41” in total height, 23 ¼” in width, 29 ½” in depth, and has a seat height of15 ½”. These fabulous chairs have a lovely warm finish (which does indeedappear to be original) and the details on these chairs are very elegant!
Lovely London blue velvet upholstery (in overallnice condition) with matching gimp adorns these beautiful chairs. Next, the top crests of these gorgeous chairsare adorned with gorgeous shell-carved and foliated scrolls with incisedshields and large dimensional floral medallions in the center. Elegant arched raised burl accents are alsofound on each side of the cameo back to provide the perfect accent for thelarge dimensional floral medallions. Small dimensional rosette medallions are foundat the bottom center of the cameo backs.Next, incised burl accents are found on the front apron of eachchair. The gentleman’s chair hashandsome undulating bowed arms adorned with incised carved details on the frontand the lady’s chair has elegant hip-rests.Finally, both chairs have turned front legs with wooden castors for easeof movement and are completed with simple back legs. These substantially-sized beautiful chairsare both sturdy and comfortable to sit in.
The patina andgrain of the rich walnut wood is splendid on these chairs and the finishappears to be original!
