Offered for your consideration is a nice vintage Case XX CA 283-8\" carving knife. This is a scarce model that pre-dates Case\'s \"CAP\" series, although it has a stainless steel blade. It was basically a transition model between the Case XX Chromium and the CAP series. The CAP series carvers were available in several variations over their many years of production, while the CA series offered fewer variations. This example has a hard rubber handle wit a half tang.
The knife has seen light to moderate use and remains in very nice, original condition with no problems. The blade has been lightly sharpened and displays some scattered fine, hairline sharpening abrasions mostly along the edge as shown. It\'s free of heavy grinder marks or deep sharpening abrasions. The edge is free of any cracks, chips, dings, or damage with just a bit of normal light wear. It remains somewhat sharp and the knife is ready for immediate use, although a quick touch-up would have it razor sharp in no time. The etched blade markings remain fully visible and bold with great contrast against the deeply mirrored finish. The blade has a long, crisp swedge on the front side as shown. The handle is of hard rubber and it\'s free of any cracks, chips, gouges, or damage. It remains tightly pinned and rock-solid with no gapping or dishwasher damage.
The knife measures just over 12-1/2\" in overall length.
This knife would be an excellent replacement or spare for someone with an old CA set. Of course, it would also be great as a stand-alone knife for anyone who appreciates fine, American-made cutlery.
