A rare & stunning Vintage Scottish 9ct Gold Iona Cross Pendant by John Hart of Iona, which dates to c1958/1959. This beautiful Cross Pendant was based on an Alexander Ritchie design and it was made by the highly regarded Scottish Goldsmith & SilversmithJohn Hart who was one of the founders of Celtic Art Industries(please see the detailed close-upphotographs provided, which form an integral part of the item\'s description).
This wonderful Gold Iona Cross Pendant, which weighs 5.4 grams, has been beautifully crafted in 9ct Gold with pierced Celtic twist decoration. The Cross isapprox\' 6.5cms long (or 6.9 including the hanging ring).
As shown, this fine quality Gold Cross is stamped with the maker\'s mark for John Hart together with a full British Hallmark confirming that it is made from solid 9ct Gold and that it was assayed in Edinburgh in 1958/59.
Overall the Crossis in great condition with only light surface scratches commensurate with age, as shown. The reverse side is engraved with \'IONA\', which shows some wear and when viewed from the side the Cross is not perfectly straight, as shown, but this is nothing really and only mentioning for descriptive completeness.
