Five Sided French AntiqueNap III Beveled Glass & Brass Trinket Jewelry Box

An unusually shaped, five-sided beveled glass & brass frametrinket/jewelry/display box from the Napoleon III period – the 18870’s or so.

Most Nap III trinket boxes are rectangular or square and thisone is beautifully crafted with two large beveled glasses on the front sidesand three smaller ones in the back. The lid has been carefully shaped to fitsnugly. The box sits on five elaborate cut-work feet.

It measures 3 ¾ inches wide by 3 ¾ inches deep and stands 2 7/8inches high. The interior is lined with its original dark red silk cushion whichhas a couple of worn spots.

The glasses are in excellent condition – no chips, no cracks andno fissures. The top brass and one sideframe is missinga total of three ‘teeth’, not thatnoticeable.

These little boxes were often used to present a special gift andthis one would have been large enough for a bracelet, a chain or a necklace.
