Here is a beautiful rare Florence Ceramics Merry Maid/Mermaid whimsical/fantasy figurine. This is Betty with the reddish brown hair that is rare to find, and the shiny pealized pink body with fish scales. She is in very good condition, and measures 4 1/2 inches high and about 4 1/2 inches wide from elbow to tail. On the bottom, she is marked \"Florence Ceramics Copywright\". Her body is very shiny and has a pretty luster of green and purplish pink colors. She was made by Florence Ward of Pasedena, who began producing figurines in 1942 in her home garage while her husband was on tour overseas during WWII. Her business flourished and she started a plant in Pasedena. Her only formal training was a cermics class, but her figurines now have a worldwide following, comparable to Royal Doulton\'s finer products.
